I am planning on putting the non woven liner under the sand in beach area and was contemplating whether it is worth it or not to do it under the rip rap border around waters edge. Heard it does a good job of keeping weeds down but not sure it is worth the money or not. Stuff is expensive.
If you have it does it help control weeds? I'm not opposed to some plant growth but don't want much.
Also will have softshell crayfish in pond so will the liner effect them being able to burrow under rock?
Thanks

As I have stated on here before, old carpeting turned upside down makes a great liner for rocks, sand, or gravel. I placed a lot of my rocks and gravel on top of some of it. If you cover it or place well below the water line, it will never be noticed, and upside down, won't tend to snag fish hooks.

FWIW I have some areas of rip rap border with landscape fabric under it and some without. The areas with the fabric have fewer weeds. I don't think that will last though as runoff deposits silt between all the rip rap and I suspect weeds will grow on top of the fabric over time.
