It has been a year now since our good friend George Glazener passed away. I just want to take a moment to honor George again, and to assert that he will not be forgotten.

George will be with us for always. His eager spirit lives on in our memories, our daily endeavors, and even in the flies that we have yet to tie...

George was the one that convinced me to pick up a fly rod and gave me my 1st class in using it. Made me wear the bracelet about 5 minutes into teaching me. I'll never forget the man. I'll throw a fly this weekend in his honor.

Posting a pic for George - he always appreciated documentation over bragging.

Rest easy, my friend.

Nothing else can be said about Mr. G that hasn't been already! My question is... Does anyone know how his wife is doing? Is she ok? Lots of times after something like this it doesn't take long for the spouse to start to not do so well either once their life long mate is gone. Just wondering an hope she's ok.

I think about him a lot. We had so many things we never got to.

RC, she's fine.

Today marks two years since George Glazener passed away. He was such an inspiration and will always be remembered. I still use his flies to catch HSB, and hopefully will start tying someday soon.

I really enjoyed my visits with George at Pond Boss Conferences. He will be missed at the one coming up.

George inspired a lot of us. To me he was more like a grandfather than a friend. He was easy to talk to and easy to argue with. He would give you the shirt of his back and scold you for loosing yours at the same time. He was the real deal. His knowledge was freely shared. His inspiration continues.

Missing George!
Thought of him over the weekend. Can't believe it's been two years.
I remember my last visit with him, a few weeks before he passed. We were chatting, he was sitting up, with good energy.
That guy always had a plan...organized to the nth degree. As Brian has said about George, he'd give you his shirt, but wear you about because you lost yours.
He and I had some fantastic discussions over the years, and that day was no different.
Thought I'd gig him a little bit after he went into the details of how he'd planned his funeral, to the last detail. (He was comfortable telling me the details, and I was comfortable asking him what I'm about to share with you.)
After he finished explaining his funeral plans, I asked, "George, when are you going to die?"
Without hesitation, he said, "Bob, God did not stamp an expiration date on my chest!"
We both busted out laughing, as that was classic George.
We miss him.

I never got to meet him. He was supposed to be at Highflyers get together a few years ago and I was looking forward to meeting him. But unfortunately he was not feeling up to it and did not make it.

My wife and I each did go home with one of his hand tied flies though (that he sent to the get together he missed) and I appreciated his posts on this forum.

He will be remembered.

I've been gone for too long. I didn't know about his passing. Swapping stories on HSB was one of the most enjoyable things to me on this site.

Today I spent some time pondering on the many great memories I have of George Glazener, who passed away three years ago, today. The memories bring a smile, a chuckle, and the urge to go fishing. I pledge to try and carry George's energy and enthusiasm as I grow older, and I pledge to learn the art of fly-tying some day. So George, if you are somehow reading this, "Fish On Buddy!"

Thanks for the TFO hat, George! And the tips on how to fish with pellet baits.
