Does anyone have suggestions for creating frog habitat? I bought a house last year with a 25 year old .5 acre pond. It was way overgrown with small lilies and had weeds all the way around it probably 3' tall. Its in the front yard so it was an eyesore. I cleared the weeds from the banks last fall and have been spraying periodically to control them. The bank are fairly clean now. I also had the lilies sprayed last year and I have kept after them myself this year and we only have a few small managed patches. Problem now is my bull frog population seems to have suffered, don't see near as many now, which makes sense I guess. So I would like to maybe create some new habitat for the frogs that I could manage. I have an area of cattails that are managed and under control. Any suggestions on other things I could do or suggested plants that would be beneficial and manageable?

Sounds like you had just that. LOL. As thick as cattails can get I wouldn't think they would benefit the frogs. Your frogs might still be there but hiding till night. Go out at night with a light and take a count. I'm not a pro on frogs but I don't see mine in daytime but there is a lot of them at night

I'm with Pat on checking around the pond at night. I've also found that setting out a cheap solar pathway light about a foot away from the water for about a week will congregate them near the light.
