What are normal conditions ? In general lepomis (BG and GSF) have a longer lifespan in cooler northern locations than in hot southern ones. They grow faster (general sense)in the south than in the north.

I've got several out of one class that are working on 8 years.

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?

The oldest HBG in my 1/3 acre put-and-take pond are now in their fifth season. They just get fatter and meaner every day, and with every feeding. They have no problem competing with the HSB and CC that are much larger.
I love these crazy things. They will take a 6 to 7 inch rubber worm before an HSB can even think about going after it. And, they don't seem to get hook shy like the CC. We've quit harvesting them. All HBG go back for future fun.
There has been some HBG recruitment, and some of those have ended up in my middle and lower ponds after flooding.
I can't tell the difference between those born in the pond in the last couple of years and those that I've stocked in the pond each season. They all seem to look the same to me.
Besides the CC, HSB, and HBG in my put-and-take pond, I have one large koi, and several SMB that were put in at about 4 inches about three or four years ago. They are now about 12-14 inches, but they don't seem to have spawned. We occasionally catch one of them.
Anway, I guess I wouldn't worry about their lifespan. I'd just keep adding to the population each season. If you have a feeding program, I'd probably put in at least four times as many as you plan to take out for eating.
