Hi all
New guy here
Recently moved to a subdivision and since I'm an ag guy( been on farm whole life and an agronomist) I've Ben designated to be the lake guy and fix the lake
It is 14 acres has grass carp in it
Not much duckweed ( a few areas) nut much yellow floating moss but a lot of blue green algae
Will dye help control the blue green algae? I know whatever we do will cost with the size of the lake but there are 10 homes on the water and we will split the bill

Do you have aeration in the lake? Dyeing the lake may cause a oxygen crash if lots of algae die off at once, which could cause a fish kill.

Hi IA Fog! Welcome to the forum! Are you sure you have a Blue Green algae? Just because it has been in the news a lot lately, everyone seems to think they have it this year.

How many grass carp and size? the "yellow floating moss" is probably filamentous algae, which grass carp won't eat.

There are a few options to help with planktonic algae blooms, and B/G algae. What are the desires and goals for the HOA? What do most people use the lake for?...aesthetics, fishing, swimming?

Pond dye usually looks great in pictures and advertisements, but personally, I think it ruins the looks of a pond...opinions vary. Dye also reduces or eliminates the base of the food chain for your young fish.

Ok the lake is foremost aesthetics fishing second
Ok my thoughts are it is the blue green algae it is a scum in the points , real murky greenspish and the water stinks. After a big rain event it seems to go away for a bit but then comes back
Grass carp there are a LOT from small to 2ft
Other fish are bass up to 1# haven't seen very many bigger and sunfish
Lots of bullhead minnow groups

Do you have any pictures of the "grass carp"? This isn't helping with your question, but since said you have bullheads, I'm thinking you have common carp rather than grass carp. I'm guessing a stream runs into the lake? Is the water kind of muddy looking in shallower areas?

You could try spot treating the algae with liquid and granular copper based products
