Broke out the fly rod and over the past 2 evenings caught 24 decent sized BG/HBG. With the grasshoppers out and about I figured I'd start with that one. And didn't need to change! 14 tonight in a matter of 40 minutes. More fun than I've had in a long time!!!

Beautiful fish there! I'm a bit envious. The few adult BG in my pond have gotten so human shy, they won't even eat live, kicking grasshoppers free-floating, without hooks! Nor earthworms either. Someday their offspring will grow to catchable size and I'll send them some feathered concoctions from my 3 weight. Looks like great fun to me.

New grasshopper fly this morning, same results only they weren't as big as last night. Caught 9 in 30 minutes .

Very nice Keith. Maybe I'll try the grasshopper fly's. The real ones are in force here right now.

Some really nice BG you have Keith! When my BG are biting, it doesn't seem like it matters much what I throw out. They are on it. It is on the days when they don't want to bite my lack of fishing skills show up.

Thanks guys! Luckily my BG always seem to be on point unless they're spawning so it's been nearly endless, and the grasshopper's been great, but even the other flies are working well. I've been having a blast with the fly rod in the evenings harvesting BG and got a nice surprise last night when this LMB decided the grasshopper looked appetizing, on my first cast. Something I wasn't ready for as it was my first LMB on the fly! At 15" it weighed 2.66 lb giving it a 156% WR! Even with no legs left on the grasshopper! As I've been fishing nearly daily since the end of June I've been keeping track of the stats on the "LMB Gape" thread but I've just been editing the post instead of starting new ones. And needless to say I'm overly pleased and surprised at the majority of the LMB at or above 100% WR: http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=29309&Number=453354#Post453354

Keith, glad you are having so much fun! My spinning rods stay dusty, the fly rods, well, good thing they don't wear out too quickly. And again, I am so envious of your lm wr's. Your fish look great. Cmm
