2 ac pond 11 ft in deep end 4-5 ft in shallow.3:00 this afternoon with stiff breeze in the sun I had 93 degrees surface temp. I have no aeriation and the fish are still feeding like crazy.Air temp is 97 with a heat index of 106.Pond visibility is 30 inches now and a very pretty light green. My question is how much more surface heat can my fish stand? Is 93 degrees dangerous? I have thousands of cnbg, res, and 50 7-8 inch lmb. No floaters or surface fish. Everything looks great right now but am concerned with hotter months coming. This is my first year with any "sizeable" fish. Just don't want to screw something up!!

High surface temperatures in a body of water are not unusual during the peak summer months. Of more importance is the temperature at the 3 - 4 foot level and deeper. As long as fish have cooler temperatures to retreat to, they will experience no problems. Short visits to the surface to feed are harmless.

If you have Florida bass, they are well adapted to hot summertime water conditions. So long as DO is okay, they should be fine.

If you had pure northern LMB, I'm not an expert but expect they'll be okay, though perhaps off their feed for a while until temps drop a bit. Maybe a real expert will come along and correct me on that, though.
