Any help identifying this weed would be appreciated.

I have researched and the closest thing I can find is from this post.

Which was ID'd as "Most likely Potamogeton pussilus ..."


Also, I would like to know if GC would help to control this.

Grass carp readily eat narrow or small pondweed. Be careful to not stock too many because they can easily denude the pond and cause some turbidity when the run out of plants to eat. Expect each GC to eat about a pickup truck load of small pondweed (wet weight) per year. Small pondweed competes against filamentous algae so the less pondweed the more FA that tends to grow due to lack of pondweed competition. I have found that tilapia will also eat some thin leaf pondweed when FA is rare.

This weed is covering about 1/4 of my 1/2 acre pond. And I also have quite a bit of FA. What I have done the past two years for the FA is after the first mats show up in the spring I manually remove them then treat with Cutrine Plus Granules. Then impatiently wait until I can stock the TP. I'll start with 1 GC and go from there.

One other question, is there a problem manually removing these weeds? Will they propagate from broken pieces? I would like to remove them from a swimming area.
