Hi, My relatives got a dog today. No one seemed to know what type of dog it is. They are told it has yellow lab in it and 'something else' The spots on the nose seem to not fit a lab. I'm sure someone here can help. I think the dog is about 4-6 mo old? It came from craigslist where a family had to move and couldn't take the dog with them. The dog will get lots of love from their 8 young children! (their dad got the project of trenching in the underground fence today, all 1,400 feet of it. He went with 14 gauge solid copper rated for underground burial. He hopes to only have to bury it once and not have to go back and splice it continually)

Many American coonhounds have that white up the forehead and the spots. But... The ears don't go with that. Beautiful pup!

I think it's a mix of Heinz 57 and Curbstone Setter.

Not sure of the breed but mixes can make REALLY GOOD dogs for kids and family. Freckels would be a good name  Tracy

Thanks for your help. I will suggest the name freckles! The dog is already good with kids so hopefully it will have a very happy transition to its new home.
