We had 14" of rain a few weeks ago. We received 8" of rain Friday night. The two events combined into a massive flash flood. My 5 acre lake is built between 3 little mountains and the water over my spill way wiped out everything down stream. Culverts roads fences even knocked down trees. The cleanup has been on going even since. I was standing at one of the new culverts last night and noticed a little cloud of 100 or so 1/2" long fish. Im betting they were from my first bass spawn. That got me to thinking. I wonder how many fish left with the flood water. I added 150 HSB 3 days before the flood hit. I wonder if any decided to stay. I have read a lot here about stocking X amount of this and X amount of that. How does a fellow account for something like this? It shocked my lake to the point the bream are not even eating the feed

On a side note, Avinger won a state championship in basketball this year!
Without certainty, the only real way to get an estimate of what is left in your pond would be to electroshock and see what comes up. Even then, this would only be an estimate i believe but could give you a better idea what amount to add.
It's unfortunate when we get rain like that and it washes away hard work. Hope your pond is doing okay, other than losing fish!

We have had our share of rain. I don't think you can plan on it or account for it. Mine dumps into a bean field and so I could tell a lot of what went over the spillway, and it was almost all fathead minnows. I had FHM, RES, CNBG stocked before the flooding rains. Of the several hundred fish I rescued, 95+% were FHM.
1.8 acre pond with CNBG, RES, HSB, and LMB Trophy Hunter feeder.

Caviler My dam stood up to the wall of water that hit it. After the first big rain I used a track hoe and places 3' boulders in the wash behind my spill way, a lot of them. They are all gone. I lost my high fence in four places and most all of my roads but talking to the dozer fellow I was lucky. A good many folks lost their dams. I would imagine the folks that live on Caddo are in a real mess.

Buff, that really sucks and yes we have had some large rain events this year. I bet the HSB are still there along with the lmb and yes the bg will slow down feeding after high rain amounts or at least that is what I have seen at my place. I think the high pressure weather that follow the storms has something to do with slow feeding for a couple of days, along with all the natural food that comes to the lake. How did the high fence do from the storm? lose any of your high value animals? Keep us in the loop, we are interested in your place. And for those of you that don't know, Marty runs a high fence hunting ranch with some nice animals for hunting.
