DD,
Ants used to get into my hanging feeders about every 3 months and the cleanup was terrible not to mention a waste of feed. Esshup recommended putting some "tanglefoot" on the hanger and that solved my problem.

As for the ants on the TH.. I've never had any with ants either either but it seems that they could get in.

Dan

OK DJ, what is tanglefoot?

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I've got a directional feeder, her name is Sharon. If I forget, she does not!! Those fish are her kids!! I think..? If you move quick enough, Ants are not a big problem.

Well I'm in trouble, seems she read this over my shoulder! How can a guy get any privacy, I know, I'll use her laptop! Another bad idea... Might as well go do my chores. Dan

Thanks Scott. Never heard about that stuff.

Anyone live in bear country? Worried about them being attracted to the food scent and breaking into a TH to get at it.

If you want to make it truly bear proof, I have 3 words for you.

Solar Fence Charger.........

Rig up a wire or two around the feeder and plug one into a solar fence charger with a battery.
