Eagle Creek Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy (WRAPS) is hosting a pond management workshop. The workshop is May 24th and starts near RD 75 three miles east of Olpe, Kansas, at 4:00pm.
Please join us for this late spring Pond Management Plus Workshop. We will begin the workshop at a brand new pond with an alternative livestock watering system. The location is right next to Eagle Creek, and we will have a second livestock watering system set up in the creek. Herschel George, K-State Watershed Specialist, will describe several alternative livestock watering systems. Then, Alex Lyon, KDWPT Wildlife biologist, will describe techniques you can use to quickly improve quail habitat on your property. When Alex is finished and questions have been answered, we will caravan a few miles down the road to a well-manicured family fishing pond. At the pond Carson Cox, KDWPT Fisheries biologist, will discuss the F.I.S.H. program and the opportunities it has for pond owners. Then, Arnold Eccles with Heartland Wildlife Management will provide instruction on various aquatic vegetation control methods. Finally, Leonard Jirak of Trophy Fisheries, will discuss the exciting fish management strategy of feeding your fish. Kansas Alliance for Wetlands and Streams will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, and sides for attendees. We hope to see you there!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you
Wes
