I thought I might post up the rainfall here in the past 3 days.
We received 11+ inches @ the farm and the pond is full and the 10" syphon is working @ full force. A lot of flooding here in Shreveport and Bossier City. East of here in Monroe La, they received 19" and I am thinking Ewest might be getting hit hard there in Miss., and hope all is well at his place. How much did others get here with this big slow moving storm? Will this continue like last spring with heavy rains from now till June?
Hope everyone is ok.

Tracy

Tracy, we were a little north of most of the heaviest rain. We're standing at 5" over the last few days, and missed most of the winds.

Al, happy to hear no flooding at your place smile I am not sure exactly where ewest is, but Miss is getting hit hard.

We got something over 16" here in Minden, a little northeast of Shreveport. The water was flowing over the dam for at least several hours overnight. I was able to inspect after a break in the rain and no damage. I suspect that some of the coppernose that I stocked in the Fall may be downstream though. We did have some roof damage from some winds and the heavy rain.

All in all, I have been very blessed. There are a lot of people around here who lost everything but their lives. Unfortunately, three people did die. At least one due to driving around a barricade from what I hear.

I've had 1.3" out in west Texas. Not alot but for out there, it's like a gully washer!

We've had right at 5" of rain since Tuesday night, east of Leggett in Polk County...but, a lot of folks have had it a lot worse than we have. I'm sure my siphon is working overtime...that thing will run for a week... Hope to ride up this evening to check it out. We have more rain forecasted for today and tomorrow as well.

I have been told we have had around 5-8 inches in the last few days. The syphon is working great.

We are ok - rain but no major problems yet - my guess is 3 inches.

North LA - Monroe got over 20 inches in a couple of days.

Not sure about the rest of East Texas but, Houston and surrounding areas have gotten pounded with rain in the past 48-72 hours. In the North Houston area (Conroe, Magnolia, The Woodlands), there has been between 10 - 20" of rainfall reported. There are some areas of north west Houston today with 3 1/2' of water in the city streets. I saw the San Jacinto River out of it's banks about a city block's length yesterday afternoon before the big gully washer hit. Truly incredible. I subscribe to Farmlogs. They indicated that we got 5 1/2" in NE Livingston near our place. I can't be sure how bad it was yet. We will head up this evening. I'm sure my siphon is working overtime. Is anyone experiencing any ill effects from the recent rainfall?

We need some more substantial rains here in NW Arkansas. We have received fairly frequent 1/4 to 1/2 inch amounts, but not enough for run-off, so ponds don't fill up. Only a couple of substantial rains have occurred this year. The piddly 1/10 inch amounts received almost every other day have kept haying operations from starting.

I've had 5.2 inches of rain in the last 10 days. All have come as heavy downpours. Pretty good sized rocks have been washed onto the roads that I am manually removing. Along with County Roads, my roads have deep ruts. When the rains slow down, I have a lot of repairing to do. At this point one long stretch is only usable by 4 wheeler.

But, I'm not complaining. 5 years of drought was worse.

EDIT just started raining here and at Bowie.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I missed the heavy stuff and received and inch and a half of this rain. And like Pat said about last year June 1st to Oct no rain. It has been really wet last year and this year. It all started @ the same time we had the PBF last year. I hate droughts though.

I don't I posted this but meant to a week or so back. This is the highway going to my place North of Cisco. I'm still "exploring" new routes to take. This is behind the dam. Highway 6 will be closed for 6-9 months.
