Well this picture doesn't do it justice but this will be my first Bluegill mounted from the pond it weighed in at 1.8 pounds just shy of 11 inches. I wouldn't be mounting it except for the fact that it was not responsive after I caught it. I tried for 10 minutes to revive it and it just would not take off and I didn't want to waste it as it was the biggest one I caught to date! So I'm gonna give him a place on the wall.

The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!
Yeah I know it wasn't my intention on really keeping it, so my Dad just took a quick pic of it and then we just couldn't get it to revive. I should have taken some more pics then. Once it's done I will post a pic of it on the driftwood it will be on. The guy at the Taxidermy was like a 1.8 oz bluegill!!! WOW!!! He was excited!!

For a BG that size (11") it appears to be a female. Excellent job of growing BG when they get to 11". If it were my fish I would not let the taxidermist paint it up as a male fish. Use appropriate colors and hue for a female.
Oh yeah I talked to him about that when I dropped it off. I hope he gets it right. It's a new guy I have never used before but he has good looking work on the wall and said he's been doing taxidermy / fish work for 25 to 30 years. So will see!!

Thanks Dono I know stupid once I decided I was gonna keep it I should have taken a few more pics.... Just totally spaced it!! The guy said it would take about 2 to 3 months. So when I get her back I'll for sure put a tape to it and take a few more pics and post. It's not no 2 pounder but like I said when it died I was like well I want about 3 of them on the wall anyway and this one was a good start! I would like to have this one at 1.8 and another one at 1.12 and then ultimately one at 2 lbs but will see on that last one.........

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.
Will 2 pound pellet feed fish be as long as those fed on natural forage?
No. The pellet fed fish are getting more food per calorie expended than they would in a "natural" setting. The RW/WR is calculated against fish in natural, un-fed ponds. If it was calculated with fish that were fed a 100% pellet diet, and fed until they can't eat any more, the RW/WR chart would be useless except for that type of pond.
Thanks guys. Makes me wonder, if I was looking for the best genetics, a 2 pound natural fed BG would have the edge over a 2 pound pellet fed. Is that correct?

Probably but then it's offspring may not do well on pellets.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.
Hey thanks everyone. Cecil I may catch you this summer...lol I can say this the other day I know I had to see one of my HSB and it looked like it was 4 to 5 pounds!! I couldn't believe it. It came up and flashed at a pellet and I thought I saw a shark!!! Wow I told the wife we are gonna need better equipment!!!

Great answer !! Fed fish will be shorter for the same weight unless local adaptation (some systems produce long fish as opposed to short stocky fish) overcomes the effect of bioenergetics.
The general RW scale uses info from all fish (BG) to come up with standard weights for a length. But most of the reported info is from natural waters so the fed component is understated.
