I noticed that the make up isn't the same both in color and in smell. I was getting the starter 200, it was coal black and smelled fishy. the last batch that I received was brown and smelled like dog food. IS it possible that they are not using Menhaden oil any more or a lot less of it? If indeed Purina has changed for what ever reason, is there another company that does make one like the old version, side not cost sky rocketed to 67 a bag!

Yep, it appears that a lot has changed about Aquamax
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

From what I've heard, the Purina food is no longer being made here in Indiana either, it's being outsourced to a mill in Texas.

Anything is possible now.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

i havent used the fry starter recently but i think the omnivore 4000/2000 smells like fruit loops!
In spring i will load up on am400/500 again.. so i will get to see the new formula you guys are talking about. Unless the people in north texas can point me in the direction of a better feed locally available i wont have a choice. Since purina has such a good distribution network, it still seems to be my best nutritional option. Getting a couple bags of skretting or whatever shipped to me every 3-4 months is just too cost prohibitive, imho.

I am pretty sure the 500/600 I got last year in June was made in Minnesota, it was a little different but my RES seemed to like it better. I do remember finding one starfish piece that looked like dry catfood the the 500 bag.
