We might be skating by up in the sticks.

Just got done with what I mentioned earlier. Checked the weather forecast and they dropped us down to a winter advisory with a possible accumulation of 1"-3" over an 18 hour period. It will melt as soon as it hit's the ground grin

South of here is still in for it. Let's hope that changes!

They had us getting rain early changing to snow after 9 PM. That didn't happen. Temp is 30 and it's snowing like a son of a gun and it's only 6. Good inch on the deck railing already.

They say snow possible by 2:00am, but may all blow south.

I've been watching these NWS forecasts since spring for the fishing conditions on the lake. Reading some of the earlier discussions submitted by the meteorologists, they have been using the Canadian system because ours don't work. Not sure if it's fixed yet, but that one seems broke too wink

Don't know about Canadian, but for sometime the European satellites and models were superior to ours. No surprise if they still are.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Just for fun...

What no snow before 9 looks like and my pet snow goose (actually the faucet on the fish cleaning table)

Not too much activity on the white stuff today. Pretty much just a light dusting that made some of the trees out in the woods look cool!

Ended up with about 15 inches here. Here are a couple of pics. One from this morning at first light and one from this afternoon when it finally stopped.

Got a good solid 6 inches here of heavy wet snow. Still snowing lightly.

7 degrees this morning and have a skin of ice on the puddle. Forecast is back in the 50's by TG and rain.

We got our first frost this morning in NE TX. I'm thinking our tilapia officially went into their "eat me" stage.

That's just down right nasty!

We got about 1.5" total, so happy about that.

Watched a video and the guy said this winter will be much warmer than last year. Hope he's right.

I started spraying Alum in Cisco's central Texas pond on Friday, 74 and sunny, in shorts and no shirt. Saturday morning, 5mm neoprene waders and a wool cap in 34 degree, 30+mph winds.

Hope that don't happen for a bit longer up here.

Not a huge fan of snow anymore, but like the colder weather.

Probably not a DIY like any shed would be.

Bob,

We only did part of the shed. We had an Amish crew do the rest. One problem was we had no experience with a metal roof.

With this one we could have done the framing, but the massive roof trusses would be too much for us and with my dad pushing 80 I don't want him to get hurt. He doesn't know his limits although he is as spry as a 50 year old. He was physically active all his life and still is. He doesn't handle the cold as well as he used to though being diabetic now.

With an Amish crew they can have it done much faster once they get started. The guy I'm hiring does a lot of roofs too.

Very true although we got a parts breakdown and drawings from a local Amish building supply right down to the nails and screws on both. All we had to do was give them the dimensions and where the doors and windows go. Drawings were $40.00 an hour with 1.5 hours total.

There are times I wish I would have skipped college and learned a buildings trade. Would have saved me a lot of money in more ways than one. Back then we were brainwashed that college was the only way to be successful. Bullshit!

Every year, boss takes on a few people who want to be a licensed electrician. Not many people follow through due to the amount of studying and testing, not to mention working full time and going to class at night. Skilled trades can be rigorous to conquer.

Cecil I was curious what your ponds temps were during the winter? I know that you have diffusers and I thought that would maybe keep the temps up a little due to the water column mixing.

Bill, watch what ya wish for. Cecli is a bit younger and probably has way better balance. When I go out on it I have serious flashbacks to when I thought A 12 pack should be assaulted asap.
