I have these weeds/alge in my pond. Most of it is growing up from the bottom in the shallow areas. Some of it is floating. Can anybody give me an idea what it is and how to get rid of it? Also, I irrigate my grass out of this pond. If I put something in the pond to kill the unwanted plants I want to make sure that it's not something that will kill my grass. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

It looks like mostly like a thick crop of Chara - technically an advanced form of algae. For irrigation consider using several grass carp per acre and some tilapia. Both will eat Chara. Amount eaten depends on how many fish you add per acre. You may need to do some significant removal of the Chara prior to adding the fish so they can sooner get ahead of the weed.

I am not a pro like Bill C. but IMHO it looks like from the 3rd photo you have some FA mixed in there with a whole bunch of Chara. IMHO Bill C's recommendation of Tilapia will take care of the FA as well.

Besides the Chara and filamentous algae already mention, you have a notable amount of southern naiad appearing in two of the photos (aka "bushy pondweed" in TX).
Grass carp are a viable long term solution (assuming your pond is "permittable" by TPWD), but as Bill touched upon, it may prove beneficial to the grass carps' success (and allow a lower stocking level thereof) to remove or otherwise chemically control a significant portion of the Chara and southern naiad before stocking with grass carp.

KELLY Please HELP

Last Year it was Water Lettuces and this year it has been a Battle with Pond Scum (filamentous algae). Each year it seems to be a different battle. I have treated/sprayed with Copper sulfate soluble powder. but I am scared to over apply and kill my Grass Crap.

So far I done 4 pounds of Copper sulfate in a 1/4 acre pond approx 4 feet deep. I know I have already over applied with out any real long lasting control. We have had heavy rains and right after I treat the Pond clears up. But then a week later I start seeing pond scum starting to float again. I have a 50 gallon skid sprayer that I only use for aquatic treatments. Therefore equipment shouldn't be a problem.

PS I have a fountain for aeration.
