Hello ladies amd gentlemen. I am here to introduce myself. I am Nicholas from northwest ohio. I've just moved to the area within the last 6 months.

I've purchased a home with a couple (14) acres of land and on it is a pond. I believe it is an acre but i haven't measured myself. Idk how honestly lol. It looks like it could use some TLC to get it in shape.
I plan to fish And swim in it. I also have a young son who will be doing the same. I would like to confess i know absolutely nothing about owning/maintaining a pond. I do have a few pictures that i will upload when o figure out how..
Things i know about my pond:
The depth is 15 feet at its deepest.
It once supplied potable water to the house.
I have fished bluegill and smallmouth bass out of it and iv seen two carp, i believe they are a couple because they won't leave each others side.
It's a bit cloudy and has muck over gravel.

Any way, pleased to have people who know there stuff and thanks in advance for tolerating a noob.

Welcome Nick. An acre is roughly the playing area of a football field.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Could the carp be grass carp rather than common carp?

Thanks for the link North40. It says its most accurate with large distances but i can assume this is fairly correct.. my pond is not quite an acre, more like 0.7 acre.

I will check there dorsel fins next time im out there RAH and let you know what species the carp are.. is it normal for these bass to be pale?

Nick,

Welcome. Not at all unusual for bass from a murky or stained pond to be pale.
