Well... We've had a really wet year and have turned on the siphon many times in an attempt to ensure 17 acre (or something like that) pond drained is down slightly to withstand the massive rains we've received without going over the spillway. The water first going out the siphon has more often been stinky /dark this year than in previous years (normally only so for a short time when initially start first time in spring as it pulls old water off bottom). Anyway, this morning, they were predicting possibly up to five inch rain for this evening so one of my brothers started the siphon for me. The forecast changed so I went to shut it off and noticed that the water was really green. The only water I've seen greener was at a very shallow 50 acre lake experiencing a massive fish kill. Mine probably still has about 18 or 19 foot depth. No electricity or aeration to it. Probably near capacity fish wise.
Flock of about 30 - 40 undesired geese calling it home. Only crop fields upstream. Was in wheat. Currently in double crop beans.
Should I panic yet?

I would discourage the geese. I don't know that they are the overall problem but they certainly not contributing to clean water.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

What kind of visibility do you have, do you feed, and if so are the fish feeding normally? How old is the pond, and is it surrounded by trees or receives a lot of organic matter?
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

Built in 2003. I do feed, but relatively low levels. It might even be out. Feeder on island and I haven't taken time to go check lately. No trees around or upstream of pond.

Each goose can put a pound of fertilizer in the pond every day.
In my personal pond, I thought they'd be OK nesting on the island as long as it was one pair. I came home one day to 40 relatives on the pond.
After that some invasive plants showed up (Eurasian water milfoil) and ever since then they are discouraged with strong prejudice from spending any time at all on the pond.

As already mentioned, GET RID OF THE GEESE ASAP !!!
They are like rats in a cellar, squirrels in an attic, mold behind the wall. The sheer volume of excrement they drop daily is amazing. And it is nasty. They crap EVERYWHERE. Bottle rockets, laser lights, flashing red lights, remote controlled vehicles, whatever it takes.

We've probably gone as far as legally can in discouraging the geese without being there every day. Even encourageD a few to goose hunt and had an air cannon going for a while

Get the red flashing light. Same as used at airports. Geese like peace, calm, and darkness at night. Most Canadian geese will vacate if you have the red flashing light.
Then when you are there ... enjoy bottle rockets, roman candles, remote controlled boats, helis and cars.
The geese will vacate - may take some persistence but no one wants to hang out where they're constantly harassed.
