Does anyone have any good ways to keep brome grass down around a pond? How to keep it so that it's easier to get around it and have less ticks?

Goats?? We mow a path about 1/2 way around ours about 10ft wide. No ticks or chiggers if you stay on the path Cmm

Its kinda hard to get a mower to and I would rather not weed eat the whole way around it. I'm just trying to get all the ideas I can before I do something about it
