Read the thread on alum - great thread if anyone is looking for info.
Had another question though - does the alum have to be added all at once to the pond, or can it be done over time? The reason for the question is that the weather has only been cooperating for about 24 hours at a pop, and after spraying the alum onto my pond, turning the aerators off, I get 24 hours before rain and new water in the pond.
It doesn't seem to kill the clarity - but takes about 24 hours to resettle, but does kill my ability to spray the whole thing in a day and let the floc sink.
Thoughts?

vinifera, I don't know much about alum treatment but I do recall a conversation from May. About half way down on page 3 esshup states: Alum isn't a "lets put a little in to clear the water a little". You have to put in enough to start the clay flocculation or it's like you didn't add any at all.
