When purchasing grass carp, is the buyer typically presented with paperwork certifying the fish as triploid?
"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"
If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1) And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1) Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT? PB answer: It depends.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Found this while helping my in-laws move this past weekend. It looks to be a copy of the certification presented to the supplier, from the hatchery. Wonder what 1179 grass carp cost back in '92.

That's pretty cool, Tony. Only USF&W officially "certifies" triploidy these days...each and every GC is blood tested. Hopper-Stephens has an office for the USF&W agent to test the GC in now.
Spiehler is getting pretty old....I don't know about 1992, but about $6500 for 1100, >12" GC from Hopper-Stephens today. Add the shipping and long term holding, and I'd imagine Spiehler charged at least double, or even triple the original wholesale price.

Thanks for the info Rex! Going by what you said here, I take it you've met Howard? Most folks around the southern part of Indiana who are into fish, have.
Interesting fellow....

As we continue to sort papers and investigate, we're finding some interesting stuff. Rex, I found out what the GC cost back in '92.
