Pond Boss Forums GENERAL QUESTIONS Help Snake that has me confused

can someone please tell me what kind of snake this is? I've handled Boa's , Pythons , Chicken snakes but never seen this one , found it in my Pond and had to kill it , my Wife don't like them , but myself don't like to kill it if i don't know what it is Please Help Identify this thing.Here is some Pics we took. Wow i did get these pics on the forum. remember folks this is a guy Dumber then a box of rocks using this machine , now you know why it excites me to know i got the pics on here.

Oh forgot this snake came out of a pond in Middle Tn. Still got a baby snake or 2 still there and a large one about 3 1/2 ' long that i seen only once.

Dewayne, looks like a brown watersnake to me. Their color pattern varies widely, and they have many local variations. Sometimes they are so dark that you can hardly see the characteristic square blotches. 1-2 per acre in a healthy pond is pretty harmless, but more than that probably need thinning out. I'm gunning for one that visits my minnow pond.

Thanks Bobad. wasn't sure about it , but didn't want the grandson to grab something that will hurt him. Now i know if he comes up to me with this snake that he will be alright.

That explains why I've seen this critter this year for the first time. I stocked 25 CC last March, and another 10 this Apr. Never saw them before. Hope this dont mean the CC spawned.
