Never heard of them until today.... But wowowow they sound right up my alley! At least a few of them anyway. Brook Trout/Lake Trout hybrid. I have read conflicting reports on whether they will reproduce or not. Are there any fish stockers from Colorado on here that have access to these fish?
Thanks!

If your pond will support them, I have no idea what splake need, I can't find anywhere that has them to sell.
I just got a new pond, I made it twice because I aint so bright.

The lake is at 10,000'. Pretty sure temps would be fine. 22' deep. I searched the forums and there is not a single post about them on Pond Boss.
Wow! That's gotta be a first.

I must be using the search function wrong. I searched the whole forum for threads older than one day with the word splake and got nothing. Tired three times cause I figured something was wrong.
Thanks!

Tiger trout might be easier to find. For splake reproducing do some research. It sounds like splake cross with a brookie easier but in many ways are much like a saugeye on how they reproduce.

Thanks! Join the club. Google the subject and add "Pond Boss" at the end and everything will pop up.

Fish - Tiger trout are definitely easier to find. Seems like everyone has those. Haven't found a single place with Splake tho. I did read several instances about them reproducing. Once article said they will spawn on upwelling water like Brookies. I'll keep looking.
Bill D - Thanks for the tip! Not sure what I screwed up.

if you do find them, getting them triploid would make them sterile and a more uniform fish. I think this is what most of the state agencies are doing now.
We get natural accuring splake in our lake with lake trout, saw about a 24" come up and suck a fly off the top water while trolling for lake trout.

it might help your search to find a lake trout supplier first as they may have both components necessary.
I thought for sure I knew of a supplier but I can not find it!!

Wow now that's pretty cool!! If I can find a few then cool, but if not I'd be perfectly satisfied just trying to grow some big Brookies.
