Good morning all. I have a new pond that is roughly 1/2 acre and will be ~17' deep at full pool. I am around 14' in depth right now and am putting an aeration system together similar to RC51's. I am running power to the pond for the dock, but would rather leave the EcoPlus 7 pump in my garage, which is 150' away. Will I have any trouble pumping air the 150' to the pond with that pump? Thanks in advance for the help!

No problem pumping air. I would use 3/4" or 1" ID black poly pipe that was buried to move the air to the pond.

Thank you esshup. That is what I was wanting to hear. I live in NE Iowa and didn't want to subject the pump to the winter here so to the house it was. I had planned on 5/8" piping, but will move up in size. Thanks again!

CW,

I just FYI I never got that pump to pump in 14 feet of water? Let alone 17 feet. Mine was good for about 8 feet that was it. I have since moved on to a GAST 0523 1/3 hp pump that is quite a bit stronger. If you already have that pump and you try it at 14 feet let us know how it does I would be interested in knowing.

Good Luck
RC

RC,

I have some structure in the deepest part so I think 14' would be about the deepest it would ever see. My plan is to start it off aroudn 4' and make sure things are working well and then move it deeper. Let the experiment begin. I'll keep you posted. Thank you!

I do have a bit of a stupid question. I already have the EcoPlus pump, but have looked at the Gast pumps. I see a majority of them are vacuum pumps and not compressors. Is there a difference other than the port you plumb to? Sorry for the stupid question.

No such thing as a stupid question.

You are correct. It's just where you connect. One end is vacuum, the other is pressure.

Thanks again esshup. I see that you can get a Gast pump for not a whole lot more than the EcoPlus 7 so I'm wondering if I just spend the extra $75 and move up to the Gast now instead of later??

CW you could always keep the Eco for a backup in case something happens to your main pump. It would be better than nothing. I have a new one in the box in case I need it right now.

If the eco is more economical to run, I'd use it for winter aeration.

Afternoon all. I just wanted to post a quick update. I did find a used Gast pump and hooked that up in my shop and ran about 150' of line to the pond. A picture will follow if I can figure out how to put it in here!
