Can someone explain what YOY (young of year) means. If I'm asking the hatchery to hand pick the best looking YOY LMB will that be in the spring or fall or either one? Thanks

I think it means a fish that has been born in the current year, but has not yet reached one year old.
That needs confirmation though.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

That needs confirmation though. The above is what I understand it to mean...in other words this year's hatch. So in May that would mean pretty small fish for most species.

Expect to pay a higher price each for the "best looking" hand sorted YOY fish. Some hatcheries will not do it. If the fish farm will do it consider it a very good place to get your fish.
