I believe I may have lost a lot of BG and RES in my first stocking attempt. Will it effect my stocking plan for a trophy bass pond if I stock more? After all I'm trying to raise forage for the bass that will be stocked later. I don't know how many I lost because the dead fish were on the bottom. Thoughts?

Pull a seine, see what you get. Will help determine if you need supplemental stocking. Record length and weight while you're at it so you know how the SF are performing. If you plan on stocking the LMB Fall 2016, providing the RES and BG this season to spawn should replenish anything lost and you'll be fine. You may even be able to stock LMB this Fall - depends on many factor like qty and size of LMB. Share more information and we can help you with more refined guidance.

I started a thread on 5/18 telling everything that happen but it got a little side tracked. I have set some minnow traps but all I catch are FHM. My thoughts were you want to have as much forage as possible before you stock LMB. I don't want to waste money but I would rather spend the extra money just to be on the safe side unless overstocking is going to be working against my ultimate goal. Can I overstock his early?

Corkman,
IMO FWIW what size LMB are you going to stock? If you are stocking small LMB they are going to live off the FHM at the beginning anyway and it sounds like you have a good supply of those. If you are sure some of the SF survived they can populate the pond pretty fast but I see no problem stocking a few more if you're nervous.

I couldn't sleep without restocking.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
