The 1.5 acre pond finally filled early in its second year and seems to be holding fine.
On this visit I was lucky enough to get what I thought was a nice morning mist shot on my phone.
The water has cleared substantially from the opaque mocha look last fall to about 12"+ visible depth now.
Around the pond I noticed what looked like round submerged nesting areas on a bank(see photo). No actual fish have yet been spotted after adding about 200 bluegill and red ear last fall. The water was so muddy then that I was not sure any would survive, plus we had a really cold winter.
Frogs are in abundance.
Can anyone tell if these nests are from the frogs or fish?

I would also be curious and grateful if anyone could identify what this young sprout is? The dead stuff around it is from the previous season before the pond filled. There were several of these sprouts around the perimeter. FA like stuff seemed to be clinging to all of the submerged plants.

Added a few hundred more bluegill and red ear and will be back in several weeks.

Those appear to be from BGs or RES nests. Frogs just lay strings of eggs

I agree. Since there appears to be a colony, I would guess RES or BG.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

That's one beautiful pic of the mist at sunrise. Awesome looking place you have there.

I am very glad to hear that those depressions are likely from fish. The minnows I put in late last summer were only about 3" or so. I am surprised they survived let alone grow enough to spawn. However there is also always the possibility that someone dropped in some mature fish without letting me know.
Thanks for the comment dlowrance. We are very blessed to have the opportunity to witness and enjoy such sights. I just wish I had my real camera at that moment. It was such a beautiful morning all around.
