Nothing will stop a determined thief.

If you have welding skills something could be made that encapsulates the panel so it won't walk off but not interfere with the solar array.

Yeah I’ll definitely build a mounting system that makes my stuff inconveniently hard to take.

I’ve been dead set on night aeration in the winter with a solar system to prevent winter kill, but is that necessary? Could I do something easer and cheaper with no batteries and just aerate during the day? Will this allow for winter kill and icing over? Even if the pond ices over while aerating the fish should still survive. Maybe a linear current booster would help and then I could have power longer on those short low light winter days.

I am just reading and learning but my thoughts are the solar panel would not put amps out to get the initial start on the motor. my electric gate will not work without the battery to produce the initial amps required. Also the panels put out varying amps depending on sun position do they not?
Not a expert just my thoughts.
