Went up to the pond yesterday to check and make sure I wasn't losing any more GS to my erosion mats, and noticed that the pollen coming down out of the oaks and hickories, had covered the water. It looks a bit like scum. Not too inviting for a swim. Will it eventually sink? I was going to try and skim it off, but it's almost like a blizzard up there now with pollen in the air.  Also, the water definitely is getting some color, and losing clarity. My guess it's the good algae I want growing. It was going green, now it's got a brownish tint. Good color? Bad color? Too much? Should I send a sample out for testing? Still haven't had any real moisture in two months (2" rain in March), and a very dry winter. Maybe things will improve if/when we finally get some rain.  Doesn't look like I'm losing any additional fish. Some initial floaters from right after stocking, some caught (120+) in the erosion nets, but only FHM appear to be coming to the feeder. No sign of RES, GS, or YP.. Jeff

I think that's about all I should put in my little pond.

It will sink, possibly a good rain will eliminate it. Ah, the joys of a wooded pond setting...I'll trade you the pollen from your oaks and hickories for some of my beech droppings.

Good! It was still a stand of trees at this time last year. Every event is still a "first" for me. I jumped in yesterday anyway. I had to stay very close to the surface. Two feet down, and it's pretty cold!
