Tony, that was AWESOME!!!

And Phil, bringing Clint, How cool is that.

Now that the bar has been raised again, the Duke is a must!!!

Good Brian, thanks, I think we will be able to have the next get together this fall. Hopefully, the water level will still be up!!

Pat, since I saw George's picture, I took the time to gather the pictures with a bit of time laps.

Here are some of the views over time to get the perspective.

Hope this help.

The dream

The dam, the early days.

Some water.

Starting to fill.

First year.

Compared to where we are today, it has been a journey.

And the dam view looked like this:

From the air.

With some water (and solar powered sprinklers):

With more water and better solar powered sprinklers:

Last year:

And the look down the big pond from where we will build our retirement home.

From the beginning, it is holding water:

First month holding water:

Two months in:

Four months in, starting to take shape. (Side note, we could not understand the white cold stuff but it went away so we forgot about it.)

First summer:

Third summer:

After all of the drought and all of the changes, the best part of this journey to full pool was the friendships I have made. Having this place is only as good as the family and friends you share it with.

I remember finding PBF after my pond was already designed and mostly built, but not full yet. Yours was one of the threads I read from start to finish. I looked at the size of the dam and ravine you are damming up and I think to myself "this guy is crazy. I like it!"

Then I had to come see it and the Topias for myself at your last get together.

It is a great feeling when a plan comes together and works out well. Yours has.

Wow! That's a beautiful pond!! How many yards of dirt in that dam??

And I LOVE the solar powered sprinkler idea! Is there a thread on that anywhere?

Congrats Highflyer, and a very belated congrats on your pilots licence. I went back through your other thread because I guess I missed it. Pic's and videos are great, I will be getting a go pro camera and any suggestions on which on or which one not to get would be appreciated.

A really fantastic pond and I am proud for you getting to full pool and apparently no leaks, which is A #1!!! The fish on beds are just my cup of tea.I know it will be a great future for you and yours as the Pond/lake develops.

Just a quick Q on your feeder and the choke plate to restrict feed flow. Did you find a size hole for your plate and distributor that worked well and limited the jamming issue(s). I am planing on buying a TH this year and would like to set it up right.

Thanks for sharing all your video and pics they are really great and I know you are proud of all your accomplishments.

Nice work - glad you are over full. After it recedes look out for hogs to wallow there.

It was kinda like watching paint dry from this end, but then again, I have watched stuff for hours if not days to get that warm fuzzy feeling that everything is working as it should.

MPC,
I would go with very very belated, but thanks, flying is great fun and good work if you can find it.... The feeder is easy to adjust. Depending on the food, you can move the plate up or down to get the right amount using an allen wrench.

I still have a lot to learn, but with great friends comes great advise.

As for the Go Pro, get the best you can afford. They are worth the investment.

Eric,
I have several "Hog Be Gones" to use. They will not be a problem for long IF they become a problem.

Sunil,
I get it, you want the director's cut!! Done brother!!!

Phil,
Sometimes the fun is watching in awe.....

Brian congrats are in order - I'm stoked for my TX brethren who are finally blessed with some rain after - what, 4+ years of under average precipitation? Can't wait to see the stories unfold from that slice of heaven. Good for you!

WOW Pat, you went up 16 inches. Great!!

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I DO understand watching a siphon drain in TX after 7 to 10 yr. drought. A Freak!!! YES, but if my pond had a siphon I probably would have set down near the end of the discharge, drank and beer and laughed.

Last yr. when my pond finally went over the spillway I took a chair, put it in the middle of the spillway and set there watching the water flow as I wiggled my toes in the water. Not to make it to weird I did have a small net to see if fish were going over too, but that was just an excuse, if my wife caught me!!!

Thanks for the response Highflyer and wish for safe flights.

I'll do the same thing! So far we've received about an inch and a half from all these storms coming through. Someday I'll get it full. Ha

9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep.
RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these.
I think that's about all I should put in my little pond.
