dudley,the pond is spring fed from the bottom.its in upstate ny...frozen over at the moment.

Gizmo, v nice pond program. You SHOULD be a proud new pond papa. How much of the surrounding property do you own? Reason I ask, do you have any intentions of further development of the surrounding terrain? Have you considered any of the government sponsered programs to improve wildlife habitat? Congrats on the family addition!

brettski,thanks for the comments. we own 26 acres (thepond sits in a 12 acre field) we are debating wether to build a vacation home or leave as is,it has a small cabin(one room with loft).are these programs you speak of federal or state? if so how can i get info?....web sites?thanks again.

Gizmo... go to this thread: Const costs thread, pg 3 and go down about 1/2 of the page to one of my windy posts about the WHIP program. All this stuff can be accessed thru your county NRCS div of USDA. There are a number of different ecology minded programs available that are government sponsered and supported. You owe it to yourself to explore them. Start your research here: Whip program
