New Subdivision Pond Garlew asked:
We have neither formally nor informally developed goals. I can send out a questionaire, but I'm not sure what to ask. Any suggestions? I guess I would need to include annual estimated costs for various levels of sophistication (is that the right word?)
So, what questions should be asked residents who will be accessing a community pond in order to develop common goals? (This might also be useful for family waters and sportmans' clubs.)
Some suggestions:
-What species of fish are you most interested in catching? (LMB/BG/catfish/etc. with local options)
-Do you wish to remove any fish? If so, what kinds?
-What level of annual dues are you willing to support to maintain, manage, and improve the pond?
-How often do you want to go fishing? (weekly/monthly/etc. choices)
-Due you want residents/members to be able to invite guests to fish? If so, how many guest-days per year should a resident be permitted? (2/10/unlimited)
-Do you want swimming to be permitted in the pond? Boating? Here's what each would do to your dues to cover the liability insurance: ($$$/$$$$)
-Rank the following management options in the order you prefer: Large bass/large panfish/catfish pond/etc.
What other questions can y'all think of that might be useful in similar situations?
