Out of balance ponds can be tough to fish into shape


It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I’m not convinced that there is even such a thing as a balanced pond, like walking on a knife edge, one slip and ... well you know....

I compare it to driving. To stay in the lane, you must constantly make steering adjustments. If you are paying careful attention, the adjustments don't have to be very big. If not, larger adjustments are necessary. Unfortunately, I'm a better driver than a pond meister.

OK, I’m going to set a trot line just to see what I get. Will give the seine a try if l can find a buddy and a net. Otherwise, I’m just going to keep on fishing and put an automatic feeder on my Christmas list.
