As some of you know. We built our 9.5 acre lake 3 years ago. And I put a partial stocking of 900 CNBG, 200 RES and 20 lbs.FHM in that year based on the estimated size of the lake. Last Spring I stocked 3400 CNBG 850 RES and 120 lbs fhm.
As well as 500 Fingerling Northern Bass.

Heres my problem (Maybe)
My other pond that I have fished religiously for 3 years, which I (supposedly) stocked with fingerling F1 at the same time they stocked my big lake with the partial stocking of CNBG and RES. I haven't caught a single bass out of it yet. So yesterday I finally had enough and made 4 cast into my big lake for the first time ever and caught 7 Bass. 3 of them weighed in at 2.9 lbs and 17" long. Is it possible for bass to be that big if they were just stocked as fingerlings last year????
Or are my assumption right of thinking that they stocked 50 Fingerling F1s in there 3 years ago?

Also, I stocked 100 lbs of Tilapia in the lake last spring. And will be doing this again this year.

Any input is much appreciated.

David,

When did you stock and how big were the bass when stocked?

It is possible but unlikely that fingerlings would grow that much in a year unless the lake was jam packed with forage.

Sounds like he put the 500 lmb fingerlings in just over one year ago, spring of 2014, if I read the post correctly.

The place must have been jam packed with forage as the forage was stocked three years ago, but it still sounds like tremendous growth if any of those lmb caught were the fingerlings from last year.

Grimes has been doing some stuff like that with massive forage bases and off-the-chart lmb growth.

Just re-read the original post.

So, those 'other' 50 fingerling F-1's could have been stocked in the new lake?

That might make more sense, but let's see what other say...

Ok so he stocked his other pond with 50 F1's at the same time he stocked his 9 acre pond with the partial stocking.

What he is saying is his other pond should have 3 year old F1's in it and he cant catch any of them.

Then this last spring not this spring last year he stocked 500 N. LMB in his 9 acre pond. So they had 2 years of forage! He went to see if he could catch one and he did and they were 2lbs 9oz already?

What he is asking I think is did he maybe put his F1's in the 9 acre lake 3 years ago? And nothing in his other pond hence the reason why he cant catch any bass out of it??

David did you see them stock the fish were you there or no? They may have messed up???

Sunil is right if anyone would know if its possible Greg would. Or N8ly maybe? That's a LOT of growth in 1 year!!!

You are correct. And no I wasn't there at either stocking. she admitted to have possibly making the mistake. Last year she did the same thing with the Tilapia(Putting them in my small pond instead of my big pond).

Either they messed up putting the original 50 F1s in my 9 acre pond instead of the 1 acre pond or my 500 northern lmb fingerlings from last year packed on some serious pounds in one years time.

It just makes more sense to me that they just flat out made a F up and ive been bass fishing a 1 acre pond for 2 years that didn't have any damn bass in it! lol

Im just glad that I went ahead and put in the 900 CNBG, 200 RES and 20 lbs.FHM that first year when they did make there mistake.

I don't feel like any harm was done giving what I stocked.

She did make it right on the tilapia putting 5o lbs in my large pond free of charge. And I spoke with her a few minutes ago and she is going to put 50 - 5"-6" Northern LMB in free of charge into my small pond next week.

Im dealing with Eatex Fisheries out of Ore City, TX

Never heard of them but sounds like a good company.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Yeah at least they are trying to make things right. But what I don't get is this.

If you say hey I want 50 F1 LMB in my 1 acre pond not my 9 acre pond can't they tell the difference?? LOL!! 1 acre and 9 acre is a big difference!! Maybe now that they know what is what they will do a better job! I hope your getting what you pay for by not being there they could be putting anything in your ponds? I hope that's not the case!!

Well yesterday Me and my son went fishing. I caught 8 he caught 6.
My biggest was 3.8 lbs. and our average fish was 2.5 to 2.9 lbs.
I am convinced that the mistake happened. I believe that the 3.8 lb bass from yesterday was one of the original 50 F1s that were stocked.

Regardless, We are having a blast and that's what matters in the end.

RC51, I couldn't agree more.... I don't get how someone can make that mistake when that is there sole job!! You would think that would be number 1 priority when they showed up. I believe they are a good company. The owner Charlie has been doing this his whole life and just recently due to health has let his daughter take over.

It is. My son threw a trap into the 1 acre pond the other day and the rope broke so he waded into the water to retrieve it. By the time he took his shoes off and walked in to get it the trap was already full.

There should be some very full Bass next week when they are put in.

David, at least it was an honest error and in the end, no harm was done. I've seen dishonest errors (bullheads instead of the CC the owner paid for) where great harm was done.

If someone stocked bullheads in my pond I couldn't even look at them. Partially because I am a somewhat angry man LOL, and more so because they would have to go through my attorney.

That is a disgusting thing to do to someone. You really have to be hateful to do that on purpose.

I might have to repay the favor by stocking green sunfish in every pond at the fishery LOL
