I live on my farm in Lincoln county TN and I want to build a pond at the bottom of my hill - see pic. The primary purpose of this pond is for wildlife and habitat management. Simply put, I love seeing deer and turkey on my farm. One of the things missing from the four necessities of wildlife management (food, water, cover and space) is water! I have a Kubota L4330 tractor (36 PTO hp) with FEL that I will outfitting with a BXepanded tooth bar. Hence, I expect to do all the work myself. If you look closely at the pic, there is my neighbor's seasonal pond. His cattle use it when they are in the area but he has no desire to use it or maintain it. I plan to put my pond uphill of his pond at the bottom of my hill. Thanks,

Looks like you will have access to a lot of water coming off the hill. That will take a pretty good sized dam.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Welcome and enjoy the forums. What's that brownish stuff I can see on the ground? It's been months since I have seen anything like that around here. Bear in mind the volume of your FEL vs the hole you want to dig. You may find the two don't line up within how long you expect to live so well. How large are you thinking?
