So I'm trying to add one more rod combo to my arsenal as I find it really nice not having to keep tying on lures on the boat.

I'll be using this to target bass. I'm more interested in rod length and action and reel ratio than I am brand (but I'd be glad to hear your opinions on that too).

Here's what I currently have:

Daiwa 2000 avid (spinning) on a Light St. Croix in 6'6". ** Used for finesse fishing **

Daiwa Procyon 2500 (spinning) on a MH/Fast St. Croix in 7'. ** Used mainly for Texas rigs / heavy tubes **

Older model Basspro casting reel in 6.4:1 on a Browning 6'6" MH/Fast **Use for my cranks and spinner baits**

I'm willing to re-tool the above rods for whatever uses would better fit them. I find myself using plastics more often than not, but don't know that I should buy another rod for plastics. I don't really use jerkbaits, but why not right? Anyway... original question. What would you add to these? I pretty much only have room for 4 rods on the jon boat so this will be my last rod/reel purchase for a while.

I usually have 3-4 rods set up for throwing plastics while bass fishing. I rig them with different size weights so I can vary how quickly the bait falls. Heavier weights are used for fishing deep water or windy conditions, lighter weights for calm and shallow water. I prefer 7ft MH rods with a baitcaster for making long casts. If it were me I would rig another rod for plastics.

LS, I'd probably go with a #4 rod, as most of them handle a 1/4 oz bait and bigger. Looking at what I have, it seems the heavy rods sit in the rack most of the time, and almost turn into specialty rods.

I like Dobyns rods and Shimano reels, but that's just my personal choice.

Lot's of good reviews on rods and reels HERE , so maybe some of them will help you select a brand.
