Got out in a light rain to fly fish for my LMB today. I figured if I couldn't see them, they couldn't see me.

Please excuse the pics. I was in a hurry to get them back in the water.

First one was 6.23#, and 20". Second one was 7.29# and 21.5"

George, this is what I caught them on. Intimation BG, or at least it was at one time. Match the hatch right?

Uga! 138 and 127 WR, outstanding - I'm stoked for you and very impressed. Those are beautiful fish - they appear quite happy with how you're treating them.

Looking good there, mountain man. Only thing you're missing is buckskin trapper chaps and coat, maybe coonskin cap and a musket on your shoulder on your way to trade beads for beaver pelts with the Arapahoe. Don't forget a wad of chaw in your cheek, for authenticity sake.

Thanks guys.

TJ, is buckskin slimming? If so, I might be all over that.

I think you can leave off the buckskin, Al--next to those ladies, EVERYTHING looks a little thinner. Beautiful fish.

That fly looks so tasty, I bet if you cast it in front of me a few times at the ice breaker [following a couple diet sodas, naturally], it would illicit a viscous strike. It's an outstanding representation of a colorful BG IMO - well done.

Oh no, sorry for any confusion. That was a bought fly. This is basically what it was.

Low Fat Minnow

I've tied some, but they're still not right yet. It's just basically a streamer tied to match BG colors. Pretty cool fly.

Al, those fish are tremendous! Looks like your management strategy is paying big dividends.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Tracy, it is a great fly. Here's the link to the actual fly.

Enrico Puglisi Rattle Bluegill

I'm thinking any fly tier could match most any forage fish with this basic streamer design. All it take's is materials to match whatever color combo you're after. If you stock tilapia, that pattern could work well this summer.

Al, I think I like "Low Fat Minnow" best - think I will try it.

Don't like to tie EP minnow - too much scissor work for me.
I like to tease out fiber - not shape with scissors, but only tried one time.

Thank you very much, "The Good Brian".

Bad Brian, I'm not sure, but I assume they are. The water was very turbid, so I actually never saw them hit. They were buried out in the A Lotus stalks, which isn't their normal location. Cold water changes everything down here, but I'm slowly getting it.

You probably scared the hell out of those poor fish.

The Topsy Tail stayed at the casa, so I hope they paid attention, because scaring them was my intent.

The LMB have been reminded that if they under-perform, they'll be at the bottom of a dark hole with a kernel of corn in a couple of months.
