Ran across this short article while searching for something else. Thought it was worth posting a link to it. It immediately made me think of a discussion on PBF from last year where leaves in a pond were discussed as mostly being bad, then someone posted a picture of a pond surrounded by trees with lots of leaves in the water and some of the great fish that came out of it. I guess this article, when considering leaves being good or bad for a pond, would conclude "it depends". Aquatic food web tied to land

Terrestrial inputs to ponds, lakes, and streams are definitely contributors to the receiving water body's enrichment also known as eutrophication. Eutrophic waters in general have increased productivity vs. waters with lower nutrient loads. This new research further proves that the fauna in the receiving water body is enriched by the terrestrial organic inputs. Too much organic inputs derived externally and internally often results in dissolved oxygen decreases which can be detrimental and cause fish and invertebrate kills. As snrub mentions "it all depends".
