Well some of you may know this I am sure, but I did not really think about it till yesterday.

I was at the land doing some work and thought I would try to fish for a second well low and behold I caught a couple nice BG. I was surprised as it's been pretty cold! I also noticed a few coming after my AM600 when I threw it out there. Not many but some and I am sure other under the water were eating some I bet.

So I got to thinking why do we stop feeding in the winter? Heck my fish are still eating some. Course I don't have ice on my water but do others feed year around if your temps are in the 30's and 40's? From the looks of it I guess I could even if it was for 1 second a day....

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Umm ok I guess I missed something? Sorry did not know this was one of "those" type topics, or I would not have brought it up. Honest mistake my bad!

It's a legitimate question RC, and a good one at that. This topic ran on two threads simultaneously a few weeks back. Got a little strained a time or two.

Bill posted a link earlier. Proceed at your own risk:

http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=394772

And:

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

My ice came off this weekend on the north side, so I went and fished for a few minutes, actually hoping to maybe possibly catch one of my perch. The hybrids were pretty aggressive once I found them. They were actually hitting my small bobber when it landed, so I have no doubt they would have fed. What amazes me is how perpetually obese these fish are. I haven't fed since October, and all were still bulging. Other than enjoying watching them feed, I really see no need to feed year round. Then again, I only feed by hand at the most once a day during the main season anyway. If they were looking anemic, I'm sure I'd feel differently.

Wow must be nice. 6"s of ice still here and the only opening is the one the aerator is making heck and its only 18"s round.

Cheers Don.
