My 2 acre pond is loaded with these Mexican Tetra..video to come soon.. but these fish are fast and jump out of the water..Hard for bass to catch.I watch them try..this one is about 4.5" they eat all my AM500 in seconds..but they seam to produce alot of spawn..should i feed till they have there full and then my bgill can eat? currently feeding 60lbs mnth for 2 acres..stocked 1000 cnbg 2-3" in jan. 100 4-6" cnbg and 150 f1 bass 4-6" in march....goal is trophy gills. so i want them to eat the AM500..all fish growing like crazy..This shows the extent of the problems in Mexico..even the fish want out of there. LOL
Good post...I've not heard of this fish before or seen much posted on the forum. What is their max size? Could be a great forage source for your LMB, but you want trophy gills, not LMB, so this may present a challenge esp if they are competing heavily for AM pellets with the BG. Also you want your LMB to hammer BG, not Tetra - otherwise might have a harder time keeping BG numbers low and growing trophies.
I take it the Tetra reproduce in your pond?
Are they more open water schooling fish or to they relate to shallow structure like BG?

No experience with Mexican tetras other than what I have read. They may be fast, but I doubt any faster than GSH. Most likely excellent forage for bass. But like GSH, they will compete with BG for food. Since BG are your primary goal, them being in the pond isn't helping matters. How is your LMB population currently?
