I think the pics are a little deceiving. The washed out part didn't look that big to me until I saw my Mom's paddle boat sitting on the side. Dad said the top part of the tear is about 30' across.

Jakeroo, so sorry this happened. You've kept a positive attitude, and the dam and drainage can be repaired.

Yeah that sucks sorry dude! If that ever happened to me I would kill everything off in my pond and start over correctly with everything I know now from Pondboss. Not that yours wasn't right I'm just saying mine has never been exactly right and that would give me a good excuse right there.

Sorry dude keep us posted has to how you fix.

Jake:

Since the pond was only about a year and a half old, I'd stop at your counties NRCS office and see if they can come out and look at the property to determine watershed and design properly sized primary and secondary (emergency) overflows. It won't cost anything. That way you shouldn't have this problem again.

Here's the info on the office:

Looks like sandy soil - what is the soil like for fixing? If not in place then a must is a proper water control system (siphon , emergency spillway , drain pipe etc.).

I would probably have a good old fashioned nervous breakdown.

Literally made me sick to look at, but it does look like very crumbly/sandy soil. Would a liner work or do you need to truck in clay?
