Yeah the place that I usually catch them has a lot of lily pads. The specific vegetation that I will choose is something I have to decide on. I would like lily pads as I do like the looks of them, but I'm going to have to figure out what other local types of vegetation will be appropriate as well.

I think lily pads has less to do with the CP doing well and more to do with the water chemistry that both CP and lily pads prefer. Particularly yellow or bull lilies.

Hey guys I caught a pickeral for my class pet and im not sure if its a male or a female? Is there any way to find out without harming the fish? The pickeral is about 14 inches. Thanks

Hey Ferg,

I have NO IDEA if this will work with pickeral. With some fish, if you put a mirror in the tank the males will attack their own image thinking another male is invading their territory. Maybe try at spawning time? Good luck!

You might try asking Bill Cody with a PM. If anybody knows he will.

There are no coloration or other physical difference overtly apparent to distinguish between male and female pickerel.
