We have not has any really heavy rain in a long time, just a series of light showers and snow. This has lead to ideal clear water conditions with the cold water not producing much in the way of microscopic life. I can shine a flashlight down and easily see features in the deepest portions of the pond at 15'. If I shine it off of the bottom, I can find the fish by the black shadows they make. Very very cool!
I am hoping the pond will freeze again this year with black ice while the pond is this clear, it will be cool to see!
Anyone else with this going on in their ponds this year?

My main pond is more clear than I have ever seen it.
Can plainly see the FA growing like gangbusters. Bright green.
The other ponds not so much so.

My trout pond that is filled with well water is swimming pool clear after the well pump is shut off and the iron precipitate settles. However if it's no longer used for trout and no longer receives well water it becomes a brown color due to type of golden algae which is a harmless species.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I have to get my underwater camera down there... wish I had a little ROV to tool around with to film this. Too bad I don't have any sunlight to get decent footage.
