Actually, just about anybody in a commercial venture can advertise here. Advertise in the mag and put a banner ad up.

But I see the Forum as a non commercial place. No selling has been around from day 1.

I did just that a couple of months ago with some extra yellow perch I ended up selling to Jamie. I got a PM from one of the mods that one or more of the mods weren't comfortable with my post as I wasn't a paying advertiser. Hence my impetus for the buy, swap, and sell category.

Here's the message. I left the name of the mod off was he was acting in good faith and who he is is not important.

I had to delete your post. It violates forum rules about selling without being an advertiser. The Mods kicked it around some and decided that it had to go.

Due to the contributions you make, I decided to not see it for a couple of days. However, we run the risk of "If that guy can do it, why can't I?". That's what I call the little bit pregnant rule.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

I rather like the non-selling rule. A section where anyone could post could get out of control fast. And when it comes to fish or other aquatic wildlife, there are a ton of local, state and federal laws/regulations to navigate. There have been a few posts for extra-special things that were creatively written and allowed, most if not all, with prior approval to the postings.

I think the site is great just the way it is!

I agree that the site needs some type of buy/sell/trade section, especially if the post similar to Cecils are not allowed. What's the harm in members helping each other out for the betterment of their ponds?

As Cecil stated earlier keep full time business off the section and allow members only to post in the section. I think it could be very valuable to the site and possibly raise a decent amount of money for the site also.

Maybe make it a rule you have to donate to the site in order to post anything in the section?

I concur that many issues may arise and cause hard feelings and discontent between members, but I can truly see some value in a method of utilizing our resources as many of us are constantly upgrading our equipment and wares.

I propose a non interactive message board (or marquee) where a PB member could list their needs and wants only. All interactive messaging would be accomplished by PM. When you find what you need, you remove your post from the non interactive message board.

ex. I'm looking for a floating turtle trap.....etc. please PM me with details if you can meet this demand....blah blah blah...

My apologies. I thought since I did not use the name it was suited to make a point.

Cecil I agree. I for one am glad that you posted what you did. I was wondering along those very lines, and your post answered my question.

Appreciate it.

Prior to contacting the office, Look in the section here called Questions and Answers(Q & A) Archives. Bill Cody has Listed them by year.

Don't be too hasty....if you purchase one of my rain-making machines you'll need that bridge again, soon.

And that's the problem Mark. Heck, I've been wanting a bridge across a neck of my pond.

The Mods have kicked it around and pretty well agree that we don't want to referee a Craigs List.

I've dropped this but if anyone is curious, this is how one site does it and gets some income out of it. As you can see not much is even posted for sale. I think it would be the same here.

Me too Dave....except mine would be over a creek/creek bed.

I think I can do something like this:

This is on e-bay and the 12 foot span is $1200 w/free shipping,
but I think I can beat that price and I am usually not even a
do-it-your-selfer.
