Sunil, I haven't had much success, but things are finally coming around. I've tried to learn from the life lessons you and Matt Dillon have taught me.

Caught this little guy (5-6") last night, normally I wouldn't post a fish this small but the surface temp was 52 degrees and it was caught on a crappie tube 18" under a bobber.

Had a really a great day on our ponds yesterday!
Caught some nice fish.
Biggest LMB was a plump 4.5 lbs on the boga and a nice 3 pounder - several nice HSB and CNBG.

Our open water season might end shortly, these might be the last open water fish I catch from the pond this year. All caught this afternoon. smile

RES #1

RES #2 I am pretty sure this one was a breeding male over the summer.

I used a casting bubble rigged as a slip bobber with the casting bubble 1/2 full of water. A 1/32" jig tipped with 1/2" to 1" piece of night crawler, fished 2ft below the surface. They wanted it sitting or just barely moving. Five RES today, 1 YP, 1 SMB, and 2 GSH, all on the same rig.

Here is #3

Nice.

I have not caught another RES since the day caught 4 all out of the same area and within an hour.

Been using plastics and casting which is what I caught the 4 on. Will have to try a bobber and worm.

A BG x RES hybrid I caught today. A lot of RES in the mix, but I believe there's a little BG in the ancestry also.

Eleven and a half inches, @ one pound three ounces.

That male BG is 8.5"

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

Oddly, it was the only fish I kept. It didn't feel right the moment I set the hook. Just wasn't the usual fight there, and anybody who's ever caught one knows they pull like a freight train.
I got back to shore, took the photos, and tried to release but it wasn't to be. Hooked in the lip, not dropped (Yolk!),handled carefully, not brought up from deep water.

Nada, belly up. All other fish released, this one fileted.

Bobby, how do you feel about the overall condition of that snook?

Healthy? Fat? Just barely making it?

I would say average and healthy, I have seen ones caught in the intercoatal waterway and other wild areas in that size range and they all look about the same. I dont think I have seen a real fat snook unless it was much larger. The smaller ones all seem slim.

George,
That must've been quite a long fight on that rod and reel combo that Bootz used!
