...Just got a spam email Dear customer,
You have not paid for driving on a toll road. This invoice is sent repeatedly, please service your debt in the shortest possible time. Then it had a link to click They had the EZ-Pass logo, so it's official, right? I'm sure this BS works, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it

It amazes me the kinds of spam email you get and the multitude of products. Some of the emails look like they spent time to make it look good and some look like junk. I often ask myself and others... "Does anyone really buy stuff from this site" or "does anyone fall for this?" And I figure like you they must be!
You can't beat the price... Free for the spammers.

The amount of spam we're getting at work has become simply unbelievable.

My business email gets about 60 spam emails written in Chinese every day. It does no good to block the sender since the domain's are randomly generated. I waste about an hour a day deleting the crap. Similar to the Toll bill, the latest, most common spam I'm getting claims I have gotten a red light camera ticket and failure to pay notice...

I have long been a believer that you should be charged for outgoing email. Even if were just a tenth of a cent each (100 for a dime), it would curtail a lot of wasted time and Internet access. I think A certain former vice president who claimed to have invented the Internet screwed up on that one. It would likely cost me a couple of dollars a month, but look at the time I would save not needing to go through and delete all of the junk.

Rex, Ya think people should take a step backwards before clicking the link? Interject a tad bit of logic in this decision making process, and ask the question: How did they get my email address I may only get a couple spams a day, but some are interesting. I'm seeing that they are projecting things in layers. Not sure if that's the way to describe it, but what appears to be, suddenly changes to something else.

Rex, We use something call AppRiver Spamlab at work to filter out spam. We can configure it to send us a daily email with the spam mail "subjects." I used to check them to see if any mails were legitimate but none were so now they get re-directed automatically to the "deleted" folder. Don't have any idea how much it costs but could save you some time.

The way our company is set up, each manager gets a copy of all his/her direct reports' emails. So, I get the incoming emails of all of our sales & management teams. This process has proved to be invaluable for staying in the loop, and replying to hot customer needs when a given individual is off or traveling.
But when it comes to spam, it's Brutality Rising.
If I don't stay on top of my inbox in a given day, there could be 500 emails needing sorted, and the spam if off the charts.
It should be illegal.

Our email server uses "Spam Assassin". By setting the filter to "4" on a scale of one to ten we have cut our spam emails down to 2 or 3 per day. If it is set to a high number the spam comes in by the 100s.
All mail servers of merit have some sort of spam filtering. You just have to go in there and set it correctly.
I know that we shouldn't have the issue in the first place.......
