Nice planning and management. You are doing things right so far. Do you have a link for us about your pond beginning, stocking plan, history? I will put the threads in the Archives about crappie. The real test of your success will be 5-8 yrs from now. Keep us updated as to your pond's progress.

Bill, I know I have a job cut out for me in the future to control BC population for a 3 acre pond. I am currently looking for a good HSB supplier my area. Also note there is not a chance I could Stock this successfully without my high volume well. The biggest thing about my setup is if I fail I can just open the drain valve and refill with well water to start over a few weeks later. For less than $500 I am ready to start over with deciding what to play with next.

Here is a breakdown on stocking.
First Delivery (Prey and Play) Sept. 2012
10,000 Gambusia Minnows
500 Copper Nose Blue Gill (Currently weight in over 1#)
500 Northern Blue Gill (currently weight near 3/4 #)
500 Red Ear Sunfish (have not caught the first one since stocking)

Second Deliver (Predators) Few weeks following first delivery
2,000 Channel Cats (later removed 200 for 1,800)
Currently are feasting and weight in 3# to 4#

Third Delivery (R U Crazy) April 2013
500 Black Crappie (currently weight in at 1#)

Below are some links to previous thread talking about stocking , forage and pond information.

!st year update with stocking info

Deep Water Willow Structure

Channal Cats for Predators

Black Crappie Delivered

BG Bedding and Well Output

Forage / Silt Pond w Gams

Cody Note: this thread was added as an update to Tums earlier post in the Crappie Thread in the Archive Q&A.

Thanks Tums

Wow! That is some serious growth on your fish. Great job. whistle

Glad I'm not paying your feed bill. But it is worth it.
