Came out to our large 3 acre bait pond in MO. The weeds on the banks are finally low enough to fly fish, and after I hooked a few tree fish. I did manage to land 4 small GSF and hybrid bluegill. Then something took my slow sinking red black fly, I honestly had a fight thinking someone had thrown in a bass, within a few seconds it pulled 30 feet of mainline. It was so much fun, but I did get my feet all kinds of tangled up with excess line. What I couldn't believe I had when it broke the water line. A giant albino CC. Didn't get a length but was 7.7lbs.

Fantastic.

I've caught a number of my regular channel cats with a flyrod using bits of worms on a small hook.

I just never throw a catfish back in the ponds. They never seem to forget the combination of a human on shore, holding a big stick, and a tasty worm hitting the water -- and then they get indignantly pulled out of their happy home. cry

Regards,
Catmandoo Ken

This one did go back in, but only because of the large number of other fish were caught for the fryers, which I'll post in a subject.

OMG, Snakebite! That thing is a mega predator! It will do a number on your forage fish. I have CC but I have a rule. Eat them or donate them but never back into the pond!
