Hello All!
Can you use Blue Pond Dye and fertilizer at the same time / within a short time frame? We have a 3 acre pond and just put one gallon of BPD in, in a week or so we will put two more gallons in. Can we also fertilize the pond during this process? Should I just check the water and see what that says? This is all being done in an attempt to control angel hair algae.

Dye will not kill the algae, just slow its growth and almost put it in suspended growth state. Dye is designed as a preventative not a cure. You will not get much of a bloom as long as the FA is present. Dye suppresses the bloom same as it suppressed FA growth - reduction of red & orange light wave lengths are one of the requirements of chlorophyll a in plants including algae.

JM I am no pro at this but I don't think your gonna wanna fertilize at this point?
I am not for sure but with pond dye and fertilizer at the same time I think you are butting two heads together. Almost like trying to put to negatives of a magnet together it just wont work.
If it were me I would get my angel hair algae under control first. Maybe fertilize in the spring. There is a whole section on here about how and when to fertilize I would read up on it before you do anything.

FA is filamentous algae... the angel hair algae is one type of FA
